Go to the island just off-it for a few hours and see the fuck off tortoises, brought back from one of our colonies (Seychelles i think) when the world was a better place. We sat on the cunts and fed them. I think some of the natives ate a load as substitute for bush meat so probably none left. Me and my mate went in 2001. Stone Town is a shit hole with loads of brasses, good street seafood at the time though, was cheap as fuck. We got in a bit of bother on the piss and were told to leave the island or be done over. We stayed for another night but unless you are going up north id steer clear - probably all fucking changed now though

Mombasa and the safari were two different things.

Safari followed by a week on the beach.

I’ve always thought they’d make a good partnership up front if given the right service

Did a safari in Kenya and followed it up with a week in Mombasa which Zanzibar is just off the coast of.

Beautiful but you weren’t allowed to leave the hotel grounds.
Safari was amazing.

Absolutely loved Zanzibar in 2005 - stayed at a lovely guesthouse on the empty beach and Stone Town was really cool. Dar es Salaam was a cracking city as well. Didn't find anywhere even slightly iffy, but that was almost 17 years ago so there's a chance it's changed. Zanzibar is high on the list when things get back to normal.

I went several years ago and loved it. Did a 4 day safari on the rufiji river, few nights in dar a salam and 10 days on mafia island, which is next to Zanzibar and not touristy at all. You do have to be careful though, it can be dangerous in the cities, fine on the island we were on though, but not much going on there.

A couple of my rich pals went to Zanzibar on their honeymoon and really loved it.

Me, I'd give an arm to get a bit of currant bun on my face ANYWHERE.

This year has been horrible.

Bloke I know worked there in the mines reckoned it was dodgy as fuck.

Not sure if he was anywhere near the tourist areas but he was less than impressed about the country and the dangers of the place, local brass are well dodgy as well he reckoned, ensure you have super strength condoms if you intend to indulge, and don’t gamble or get pissed with the locals you will end up beaten, skint or worse.

Tourist ares are maybe better just dont wander off the beaten track i suppose.

Zanzibar is really just another part of Tanzania.
